7 Days of Healthy & Aesthetic Baby Snacks: Easy Meal Plan for 6–12 Months
Starting the solids journey is such an exciting milestone, but let’s be honest — it can also feel a bit overwhelming for us mamas. We want food that is nutritious, safe, and (let’s admit it!) looks beautiful on those tiny plates.
I’ve curated a 7-day snack plan that focuses on simple, whole ingredients that are perfect for baby-led weaning (BLW) or mashed feeding. Here is what we’ve been loving lately at The Mama Muse.
7-Day Healthy Snack Recipes (6–12 Months)
Day 1: Sweet Potato Cubes
How to: Peel the sweet potato and cut it into 1-inch cubes. Steam for 10–12 minutes until they are fork-tender (should mash easily between your fingers). Let them cool before serving.
Tip: Sprinkle a tiny bit of olive oil for healthy fats.
Day 2: Creamy Avocado Toast Fingers
How to: Mash half a ripe avocado with a fork until smooth. Toast a slice of whole-grain bread lightly, remove the crusts, and cut into "fingers" (the size of an adult index finger). Spread the avocado thinly.
Tip: This is great for practicing the "palmar grasp."
Day 3: Perfect Broccoli Florets
How to: Cut the broccoli into large florets with long stems (easier for baby to hold). Steam for 8–10 minutes until the tops are very soft.
Tip: Ensure the florets aren't too small to prevent choking.
Day 4: Banana & Hemp Coins
How to: Peel a ripe banana and slice it into thick "coins." Roll each coin in a few hemp seeds. The seeds add Omega-3s and make the banana less slippery to hold.
Tip: If the banana is too slippery, keep part of the peel on for the baby to hold.
Day 5: Raspberry & Greek Yogurt Swirl
How to: Take 2 tablespoons of plain full-fat Greek yogurt. Mash 3–4 fresh organic raspberries through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds. Swirl the puree into the yogurt.
Tip: Always use unsweetened yogurt to avoid added sugar.
Day 6: Soft Baked Cinnamon Apples
How to: Peel and core an apple, then slice it into thick wedges. Place on a baking sheet, sprinkle with a tiny bit of cinnamon, and bake at 180°C for 15–20 minutes until translucent and very soft.
Tip: Cinnamon is a great way to introduce new flavors without salt or sugar.
Day 7: Nutrient-Dense Egg Yolk Mash
How to: Hard-boil an egg (10 minutes). Remove the shell and take out the yellow yolk (avoid the white for early starters as the yolk is easier to digest). Mash the yolk with a teaspoon of breastmilk, formula, or warm water until it reaches a creamy consistency.
Tip: High in iron and healthy fats for brain development.
