Sweet Summer Cherry: Crochet Hair Kerchief Pattern for Girls

Project Materials

Yarn: Fine weight cotton yarn in Beige, Red, and Green.

Hook: 2.5mm or 3.0mm crochet hook.

Step-by-Step Crochet Guide

Phase 1: The Triangular Base (Beige)

Row 1: Magic ring, chain 3 (counts as first DC), 2 DC, chain 2, 3 DC into ring. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 DC in the first stitch, Ch 1, (3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC) in the Ch-2 space, Ch 1, 3 DC in the last stitch. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 3, 2 DC in the first stitch, Ch 1, 3 DC in the Ch-1 space, Ch 1, (3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC) in the Ch-2 peak, Ch 1, 3 DC in the Ch-1 space, Ch 1, 3 DC in the last stitch. Turn.

Rows 4-20: Continue the pattern by adding 3-DC shells in every Ch-1 space and maintaining the (3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC) at the peak until the kerchief reaches the desired size.

Edging: Finish the longest edge with a simple shell border or picot stitch for a delicate lace effect.

Phase 2: The Cherry Charms (Red & Green)

The Cherries (Red): Make 2 for each charm. Magic ring, 6 SC into ring. Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch (12). Round 3: SC around. Stuff slightly and decrease to close.

The Leaves (Green): Ch 6. SL ST in 2nd ch from hook, SC, HDC, DC, 3 SC in last ch. Work down the other side: DC, HDC, SC, SL ST.
